Removing and Replacing Pedals

Tools Needed:

  • Allen Wrenches (Bike Multi-Tool)
  • Pedal Wrench

Tips:

  • Remember, both pedals are not threaded the same way.  To remove your drive side pedal, turn counter clockwise.  To remove your non drive side pedal, turn clockwise.

  • Fast forward video to 3:14.
  • To remove the non drive side pedal:
    • Point the crank forward
    • Hold Pedal with Left Hand, Hold wrench with right hand
    • Push your wrench down (have the long end of the wrench pointed toward the back of the bike)
    • Once pedal is loose, unscrew with your hand.

  •  To remove the drive side pedal:
    • Point the crank forward
    • Hold Pedal with Left Hand, Hold wrench with right hand
    • Push your wrench down (have the long end of the wrench pointed toward the back of the bike)
    • Once pedal is loose, unscrew with your hand.

  • The new pedals will be labeled left and right pedal.  Make sure you put the correct pedal in the correct crank.

  • Start with the drive side: Turn CLOCKWISE by hand first.

  • Point the crank toward the back of the bike, and point the end of the wrench forward.  Push down until the pedal is tight.

  • Install the Non Drive Side: Turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE by hand first.

  • Point the crank toward the back of the bike, and point the end of the wrench forward.  Push down until the pedal is tight.
