Sept. 8 Newsletter

Dear Families,

We are having a wonderful first week! Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous firstie with me this year!  I am enjoying getting to know your children.  🙂

At “Meet the Teacher” Tuesday afternoon, many of you filled out a colorful packet of papers while at school while some of you took the papers home and sent them back to school with your student. Thanks for helping us take care of those details!  If you who were unable to attend “Meet the Teacher”, I will send the paperwork home in your child’s Monday Mailer.  Thank you for getting that paperwork back to me ASAP.

Firsties eat lunch at 10:50 each day.  Some students get hungry between breakfast and lunch which makes it hard to concentrate and learn.  If your student would benefit from having a little snack, you may send a healthy, portable snack to school with him/her.  S/he may eat it right before heading off to morning recess at 9:20.  I offer several drink breaks during the day.  If your child needs to sip throughout the day, you’re welcome to send a water bottle for him/her to keep on his/her desk.

I’m pleased to say that students were such good listeners, direction followers and friendly, hard workers that they earned lots of Thumbs Up tickets!  Yay!  Thumbs Ups are yellow tickets that students save/use to buy special things like coupons to “eat lunch with the teacher”, “sit in a rolling chair” or “bring show and tell”.  They also can choose a little prize (pencil, frisbee, etc). Coupons stay at school and prizes go home.  Toys and stuffed animals from home need to stay at home unless your child has one of these coupons or teacher permission.

It’s been a super fun week! I hope your firstie is enjoying him/herself.  Please don’t hesitate to e-mail or call if you ever have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
