Sept. 11th Newsletter

Dear Families,

Hope you all had a restful weekend and are excited about the first FULL week of school.

Monday Mailers are big envelopes that are sent home every Monday.  They are filled with your child’s completed work and school papers. You may return papers or lunch money in Monday Mailers.  Please have your child directly give me notes, especially those about changes in after school bus/daycare/pick up arrangements.  Return Monday Mailers and paperwork by Friday.

This week’s parents/guardians will need to review/return your student’s Student Profile, fill out a Parent 3,2,1 and help your child find items for his/her “All About Me bag.  Thanks for hanging in there with me through all the paperwork. This should wrap it up! YAY!

Please also find a kindergarten sight word list. Our hope is that students still have these memorized from last year.  If your child has gotten “a little rusty” over the summer, it might be helpful to spend 5 minutes a night reviewing 5 words they need to practice.   Keep it positive and celebrate the words your child knows! Students all learn at different rates.  With hard work at school and home support, s/he will master those words this year.

You’ll also find a school menu, fliers for after school opportunities and an Operation School Bell application.

Your child is welcome to bring a water bottle and healthy snack to school each morning.

Weekly Schedule:

Monday:  PE

Tuesday: Library, I’ll have a sub teaching while I individually assess students

Wednesday: spirit day (wear purple and green or Holt shirts), early release

Thursday: Music

Friday: Music

Save the date:

Curriculum and Resource Fair will be held on September 22nd from 6 to 8 pm.  This will be a chance for me to share first grade goals and units of study, homework philosophy and other important information about having a fabulous firs tie.  You also will have the chance to see your child’s learning environment and ask questions.  Our parent volunteer schedule will be finalized and we’ll start volunteers after that.

Looking forward to an awesome week with your fabulous firstie!  As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child.

Kind regards,

Leah Willow
