About the 4JTILT Project 2007/2008
Welcome to the 4J 2007/2008 TILT project! We are delighted that you are going to be part of this experience. As you know, the primary focus of this project is to increase our students’ literacy through integrating technology in our instruction. We want to help you improve your knowledge and skills related to integrating technology in reading and writing as well as increase both your and your students’ access to technologies that will support these skills.
The TILT Project is made possible by a grant from the Oregon Department of Education to the Eugene School District 4J. The purpose of the project is to provide research-based professional development opportunities to teachers on strategies that will enhance teachers’ integration of technology into the teaching and learning environment, with special attention to emerging technologies related to reading and writing
One of the most important pieces of this project is the group collaboration that will occur. As a team, you will not only be incorporating technology into your own teaching but, you will also be helping to facilitate the expanded use of technology in your building. We are looking to you to be the ‘go to’ people who will work with your colleagues to improve technology integration throughout your staff. This can be done in a variety of ways including team and staff meetings as well as one on one conversations. We look forward to having you contribute to our TILT blog that will be a forum for us to share our insights and experiences.
In order for all of us to reap the greatest benefit from this project, it will be important for you to attend all of the planned professional development workshops. Please mark your calendars now and plan on being there.
Finally, thank you for your commitment to improving your teaching and your students’ learning by participating in this opportunity. We’re looking forward to a great year together.
Sincerely,
Marilyn Williams
