Activity Objectives:

  • I can take Cornell Notes.
  • I can make a mind map.
  • I can use primary sources to develop a claim,  cite evidence and show my reasoning.

Directions:

Begin by Picking Apart this Prompt.

Students will use the gallery of information to learn the skill of Cornell Notes.  Students will examine and analyze the visuals in the photo gallery, “World Perspectives”.  Students will then create a mind map of the given visuals.  The 3 categories are:  Where Children Sleep, Families and Food, and Children’s Toys.  Include key words, drawn or printed visuals, and details that show evidence to your thinking.

After creating the mind map, students will create 2 open ended questions to ask others about their perspectives.

Finally, students will write a summary PACE citing evidence from the gallery or their mind map.

Prompt is: Explain your perception of how children live around the world change.  Did your perspective change at all? How or how not? Write a PACE using at least two pieces of evidence from the photos to support your thoughts.
