Choose one of the photos below to use as the subject of your drawing.

  1. Look closely at the object. What shapes do you see? What values do you see? Where will you start?
  2. Use sketch lines (whisper lines) to draw the basic shapes.
  3. Use a range of values to make your drawing realistic.
  4. Look closely at your object during the whole time you are drawing. Spend the same amount of time observing that you spend drawing.

As you work, the time you spend OBSERVING = the time you spend DRAWING.
