Projects: “An Ethic of Excellence”

“I want a classroom full of craftsmen. I want students whose work is strong and accurate and beautiful. Students who are proud of what they do, proud of how they respect both themselves and others.” Ron Berger

Project-based learning is an exciting and dynamic way to teach and learn. When we marry Oregon standards with real-world experience, imagine the possibilities! We are committed to planning and implementing meaningful, academically rigorous projects that will take students out of their comfort levels and allow them to integrate our disciplines. Understanding one’s world means working with information in new ways. This is where true learning begins.

My teaching partner and I were both inspired by Ron Berger’s “An Ethic of Excellence”. I invite you to read this book by a master teacher on rigor and relevance in the classroom.

Innovation will be key this year, both in personal and group projects. To me, innovation means pushing oneself to explore new methods and to use knowledge in new ways.
