Welcome to the first full week of school! Here’s a little update in case you’re wondering what you need to bring
Science: Everyday you will need to bring at least two pencils and an eraser, your agenda planner and binder with a science section. The student edition (SE) for science will be passed out early next week (probably Tuesday 9/13). You are expected to bring the SEs to class everyday and will need to bring it home about two to three times a week to complete homework.
Math: Everyday you will need to bring at least two pencils, an eraser, a ruler, a calculator, a blank notebook for classwork and homework, your agenda planner and binder with a math section, and math textbook (which I will distribute probably Wed 9/14). There will be an interactive notebook (INB) that will be provided and this should also be brought to class everyday. You will need to take your INB, textbook, and math notebook home everyday for homework. Next week I will have students sign up for the e-book version of the textbook so they can access it online.

I’m very excited to start this year with you! I am new to Spencer Butte Middle School this year (like many of you 6th graders). I’m originally from California and went to the University of California, Santa Barbara for a bachelors degree in Biology, then moved to Eugene to study genetics at University of Oregon. There I discovered how much I loved teaching and moved to the UO College of Education. Previously I have taught elementary in Alaska, 6th and 7th grade science at Kelly Middle School, and 6th grade health and 8th grade science at Cal Young Middle School. Now I’m excited to start here at Spencer Butte and I can already tell I’m going to love it here. My favorite hobbies are hiking, camping, kayaking, snowboarding, reading, gardening, playing with cats, and dancing.
