Lost but now I’m found
You helped me find my true light
I say I love you
I hope you believe my love
I will love you till the end

Sun turning my skin into gold
I wish that this moment was never told
This moment is frozen
I was caught in a doze
My mind starts to flow
But I chose to stay closed
Sun turning my skin into gold
I wish the world was never this cold

It was the brightest thing I had ever seen. It was intense but I felt welcomed, and at the same time I knew I shouldn’t go into the light. It was the weirdest sensation.
Twelve hours before, Taylor, McKayla and I were in the car getting hyped for the concert we were about to experience. This was our last summer together before we all went off to college, and we had to go out with a bang. We were going to see Milky Chance. It was a long drive from Portland. The concert was at the Gorge in Washington. The drive was so beautiful, the rolling hills and the warm summer sun on our skin. I knew I would remember this trip forever. I never wanted it to end. We pulled down a gravel road. There were so many people the line of cars went as far as I could see. There was a massive field where we parked the car and set up our little tent. The concert was now in 5 hours. We started to get ready and dressed up. We picked out our outfits and covered ourselves in sparkles. After we were all done up and ready we went out to get some food. McKayla and I had a burritos and Taylor had Pad Thai. The walk over to the stage was long so we left after we ate.
We made it to the Welcome to The Gorge sign and walked in. There was a hill in front of us we walked up. On the other side of the hill was a deep valley. It was magnificent. A river was at the bottom of the canyon, the sun was going down, and the sky was filled with a rosy pink glow. We found a stop on the hill and sat down and marveled at the beautiful place we were in. Then McKayla reached down into her pocket and grabbed the well wrapped candies. She unfolded it. They sour patch kid candy were soaked to the core. There were five of them. Me and Taylor took one and a half and dropped them in our mouth. McKayla took the other two. The taste was like nothing else. It’s so distinct I felt it soaking into my body. The sky was even more vibrant now. The clouds had the colors of the rainbow around them as if I was looking through a kaleidoscope.
Milky Chance steps out, everyone stands up, and we scream as loud as we can. The first song they play is “Stolen Dance.” It’s starting to get darker. We leave our spot and start dancing through the crowd and go as close as we can. My body feels like it is floating when I dance. The lights are so bright and huge. The music seems to get louder and longer. The crowd dancing gets bleary. I tell Taylor and McKayla I need to sit down. We go find a place to sit but we are still very close to the stage. My legs are out in front of me and I’m holding myself up with my arms. Then I see from everyone in the crowd their spirits rising up out of their bodies. I lay back and close my eyes but I still see everything that is going on. I ask Taylor if my eyes are closed. She laughs at me and says, “Yes they are closed.” At this point I start to freak out. McKayla grabs me and lays me in her lap and tells me to close my eyes and rest. So I try it again but this time when I close my eyes I see McKayla and Taylor standing over me, saying “She’s seizing and there’s foam coming out of her mouth. Someone call 911”. I quickly open my eyes and sit up so fast and ask what just happened. They have no idea what I am talking about. They were just watching the concert and nothing had happened to me. So I lay back down. I close my eyes. This time I see flashing lights and here comes an ambulance. They bring out a stretcher and lay me down on it. This is where I see the light, it is bright I want to go into it but everyone says don’t go into the light. It is the strangest feeling so I force myself to open my eyes. McKayla and Taylor are just sitting there. I tell them we need to go back to camp. My legs are weak. I struggle to stand up. They help me and we start the long walk back to camp. On our way we find glow sticks on strings. We each have two. We make the most of having to leave the concert early so we dance around with our glow sticks as we come down from our trip.

Take me out to an empty field
With flowers as far as the eyes can see
Lay down with me
Hold me
Kiss me
As the warm sun shines
And warms our sun deprived skin
The smell of the little blue flowers fill our nose
That’s what I dream of
To be alone with you
