Announcements: Hello, and welcome to another week of 7th Grade AVID!  This week we will be finishing up our last tutorial, and putting in a lot of work on our AVID Newspaper articles.  Thursday, we will also be doing an activity with our tutors: Ping-Pong Zip-Line where groups will be given a selection of materials, and then asked to create a zip-line to safely move a ping-pong ball from the top of a table to a platform on the floor.  Groups will then be challenged to make their descent as fast as possible.  On Friday, June 9 from 6:00-8:00 PM we have our AVID Awards Celebration in the school cafeteria.  We will be serving picnic-style sandwiches, veggies, and cake.  I hope that you all will be able to make it.  Have a fantastic week!  Let me know if you need anything.

Announcements: Hello, and welcome to another week of 7th Grade AVID!  This week our schedule gets a little odd.  With no school on Monday, and Thursday 6/8 being the last day for our tutors, we are on one of the last tutorials of the year.  Group A will be presenting this Thursday, and Group B will present the following Tuesday on June 6.  AVID Awards are happening quite soon!  Miller and I are in the middle of putting the finishing touches on the event.  Food that will be provided will be picnic-style sandwiches and sides that we’re having made by a deli.  This is our first AVID Celebration that we’re hoping to make an annual tradition.  For the 8th graders, we have invited their Freshman Year AVID Teacher, and we have also invited those 6th graders who have been accepted into AVID for next year and their families.  I wanted our AVID Newspaper to be done by then, but I think that it will be slightly longer until it is complete.

Announcements: Hello, and welcome to another week of 7th Grade AVID!  This week is business as usual through Thursday.  AVID grades are 100% updated as of Monday evening.  If students are missing AVID Weekly packets it is severely impacting their grade.  I will give students a print-out grade report on Monday 5/1 as they’ll have nearly two weeks at that point to fix things.  This Friday is our field trip to Linn-Benton Community College.  According to our coordinator, we will be eating lunch at Ciddici’s near LBCC just off of 99.  Also, there are several students who still need to turn in their permission slip for the field trip.  I need the permission slip/note/email to be sent indicating permission to go on the field trip ASAP if your student has not given you the permission slip yet.  I will attach another copy to the email so that you all have it.  I hope you all are having a fantastic week!  Let me know if you need anything.

Announcements: Hello, and welcome to another week of 7th Grade AVID!  This week we have our third tutorial of the trimester, and will also start doing the initial work on our class project for the term – a class newspaper (more details on this later on).  Also, the permission slips for our next college field trip went home today.  We will be going to Linn-Benton Community College in Albany on Friday, April 28.  This is an early release day, so students will only be missing two classes (4th & 6th).  Because our bus back to school will get back after the early release, students will need to secure their own way home after we get back to school.  We are expected to get back between 1:45-2:00.  I have uploaded the permission slip to the blog under the “resources” tab, and have also attached it to the email.  Like our last college field trip we would love to have a couple of parents/guardians to chaperone.  If you are interested in doing this, please send me an email or a note in with your student ASAP so I can inform our coordinator.  I hope you all have a fantastic week!  Let me know if you need anything.

Announcements: Hello, and welcome to another week of 7th Grade AVID!  This week is a full week, and we’re going to be starting a major spring term project this week: the AVID Class Newspaper which I hope the principle writing will be done before the mid-trimester.  After the last AVID meeting, it sounds like our next College field trip will be on Friday 4/28 (our last early release day) to Linn-Benton Community College in Albany.  Other than date and location, I have few details at this moment, but will update you all as soon as I have more information.  If any parents or guardians would like to volunteer for the field trip, please let me know ASAP.  I am also in the middle of planning our end-0f-year AVID Celebration.  It sounds like this will be happening the day after student-led conferences, Friday 6/9, at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria.  We are expecting it to last about two hours.  More details to come as we get closer to the date.  I hope you all have a fantastic week!  Let me know if you need anything.
