TOK: December 17-18, 2019

Hello! Today we will start looking at some seminal experiments in Human Science.

  1. 5-10 minutes (If necessary): Complete notes on methods in the Human Sciences.
  2. In groups of roughly 3, you will research and report back to the class about a famous experiment in Human Sciences. I will assign the experiments.
  3. The format of your report to the class will be a slide presentation of about 4-5 minutes. You may include video clips, but they should not be more than 2 minutes.
  4. You will present these next class.

Reason Posters

1) Your group will be assigned a topic from our study of Reason and Logic. You will make a poster of that topic, that clearly illustrates how it works, the fundamental features, the strengths and weaknesses (where applicable), 3 examples, and a large colorful illustration.

Hello. Today we will finish taking notes on the characteristics of language and its implications on Knowledge and practice using different aspects of language.

  1. Discuss ‘Untranslatable words’
  2. Finish notes from last class.
  3. Language activities. Choose 1 and complete. Finish for homework, if not done in class.

  1. Warm-Up: Please write a 2-paragraph response for the following:  What implications do the stories from Radiolab have for your understanding of Language as a Way of Knowing? In other words, what did you realize about language that makes it powerful or problematic for the production of knowledge? Please use one or more of the stories as the basis for your response. Title your response “Radiolab: Words” and date it.
