The National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and Preliminary SAT, is a program by the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The purpose of this test is to see if you qualify for the National Merit Scholarship, in addition to this, it is also viewed as a practice test for the SAT, and a very good way to predict your performance and see what areas need to be worked on. It is usually taken your junior year, but sophomores have been known to take the test as well.
