Mme Jana’s News This week,

It’s already the last week of school! Thanks for sharing your children with us this year. It’s been quite a year. On Thursday, all student materials from my classroom will come home. So, they’ll just need a water bottle, if anything, for Field Day on Friday.

FLA (French Language Arts):  Your child’s personal statistics will be reported to you on his/her report card. Students completed a survey of which “J’observe…” writing assignments were finished. That paper will come home, also in the report card, and it will indicate which of the 21 in-journal writing exercises your child completed.

Les sciences humaines:  Many students have now completed their francophone country dodecahedron and have given their report. Hopefully, all students will complete their work by Thursday. For students who do not complete their projects (and we’ve been able to see there will be a few, despite all our attempts to move them along), I will send home materials so it can be completed at home. If it’s not completed by Thursday, it will not be completed at school.

Mme Shelli’s News

Language Arts & Health : As part of our human body study, we have had an ER doctor, psychologist, and brain scientist share about their work. Thank you parents for supporting us in this way!  To finish our human body unit, students will make review games to play with their classmates later in the week. They will bring these home Thursday for you to play.

Math: In Math, we are making graphs based on surveys the kids designed as part of our data & graphing requirements for fourth grade.  Later in the week, we’ll do some fun coordinate plane graphing.

Keep up the great work over summer

Over the summer, we encourage students to spend a little time on math, reading and French. There are many ways to practice and extend math & reading at home. One interesting and FREE summer program is called Summer Math Challenge which sends you 6 weeks of math challenges for your child for via email. Another FREE practice option is to have your child play math games on DreamBox or SumDog (see math link above) – I will leave your child’s profile active over the summer.
