What’s New on the Trail

Mushers are working on their team shirts.  They have included collar designs with animals,  and lots of detail all over.  There are dog footprints, ying-yangs, pictures of Huskies, many Alaskan flags, and great words on the sleeves.  Every team shirt also has their name on the shirt in fancy letters.

They are wonderful!

Check them out in the hallway at Edison!

The Dogs Are the Real Heros!

The dogs are doing really well and no one has lost a dog yet.  The race is rough and really hard, but very fun.  We will keep working hard!  We are making sure to give the dogs lots and lots of water.  Every musher is making sure their dogs get the right amount of food every day.  We make sure their paws are doing really well.  We made sure to make really thick booties before the race and now we are trying to keep the dogs feet out of cold water.  Even though we are all working, reading and running hard, we make sure the dogs get enough rest.  The Dogs are the real heros in the race!

Off and Reading!

Mushers report feeling determined and excited. It is also very cold on the trail, so we are wearing big, fat jackets. Today some of the teams saw a Moose on the trail. Some teams also saw Caribou and a Snow Wolf. Many mushers are excited to win by challenging themselves to keep reading lots everyday! Teams are very eager to cross the finish line and are making great progress.
