Collateral Drafts

8. Collateral Design Assignment – Students use Adobe Illustrator to design their collateral pieces that also includes a 4th piece of their choice. Description and examples here. Take ideas from your sketches and follow the directions below. I have a link to PDF templates for all collateral pieces that can be opened in Illustrator to use for creating your work.

Assignment: Students apply their logo/brand in standard collateral materials that include business card, envelope, and letterhead. Students also must create an additional 4th collateral piece that is commonly found in organizations, such as a postcard or label, t-shirt, bag, etc.

It is important that when designing these pieces that rulers and deliberate measures are used to specify stand-off distance of elements, size and proportion, typography point size and styles, and color values. These measures will be used in detailing Graphic Standards specification for these pieces.

Use rulers and guides to set up a separate file for each collateral piece. Specific measures for each piece will be used in the Graphic Standards. Reference past cohort standards on my blog and printed copies in class.
