The Willamette Valley is one special region, or area, you may travel through in Oregon. To get to the Willamette Valley from the coast, drive up, over, and down the other side of the Oregon Coast Range (a line of mountains). You know you have gone beyond the Willamette Valley if you begin to drive up and over the Cascade Range (another line of mountains). The Willamette Valley is bordered on its west by the Oregon Coast Range, on its east by the Cascade Range, on its north by the Columbia River, and on its south by the Calapooya Mountains. The bright green and yellow areas in this map show the Willamette Valley region.
