Building strong work habits and study skills is an essential part of preparing your child for middle school. Fifth graders will be expected to complete homework that is an extension of what we learn in class and/or extra practice. A weekly homework packet and newsletter will be sent home each Monday with your child. The packet includes a daily spelling assignment, reading log and math facts practice to supplement what students are learning in their math classes. Students are expected to log 100 reading minutes per week. The reading log needs to be signed by a parent each night. The homework packet should be completed and returned by Friday morning. Math homework will be assigned by your child’s math teacher; it is always due the following day. Special book projects and reports will also be assigned. I will always send home an informational sheet explaining the instructions for the project and its due date.
